As always this is a busy time of the year for our group. Since we deploy not just locally, but nation-wide as well when a hurricane is spotted we all begin to pack up our gear and prepare for deployment. Our efforts are not limited to environmental disasters, but human caused disasters as well. This summer we had teams respond to a hoarding case in North Carolina as well as Baton Rouge for Hurricane Gustav Relief efforts. The hoarding case details can be found on our current news page.
We call out to the Spokane Community to help us continue training efforts. Since we are completly volunteer basis we pay for our own personal response supplies and our own training. Such classes as our swift water training course, ropes course, and large animal rescue course will be invaluable as we respond to relief efforts involving fires, ice storms, flooding, and hurricanes.
H.E.A.R.T. was designed to coordinate efforts to provide rapid response to events affecting the health, safety and welfare of human beings and animals. Activities include but are not limited to small and large animal care, facility usage, and providing mass care and sheltering for companion animals, livestock, wildlife, and exotic animals following a major emergency or disasters.
Due to our intense training requirements and proven skill in the field we have been able to set up an agreement to help the American Humane Association on national disasters.
These situations provide invaluable experience for our volunteers. When an emergency hits the Inland Northwest H.E.A.R.T. is prepared to handle the situation. Any help that can be provided by the community is greatly appreciated! We are always looking for a wide variety of supplies, from horse trailers to leashes and kennels, to monetary donations to continue our training. See the bottom of the page if you wish to donate or join our mailing list if you would like to join our group!
